The sprawling area of Maheshtala - Santoshpur - Metiaburz, which lies on the southern bank of the river Ganga, is famous for its unique garments industry throughout the state of West Bengal and beyond. This vast and densely populated area is largely inhabited by the people of tailoring or Dorji community. Despite its rich and potentially developed socio-economic conditions, this area was deprived of an institution of higher education and learning. With the passage of time, this deprivation acted as the catalyst for the demand for a College in this predominantly minority inhabited locality.

Principal's Message

Established in 2008, Panchur College is one of the youngest colleges in the State of West Bengal. However, it has been slowly but steadily trying to move ahead since its inception, to fulfil its goal of providing quality education to all at an affordable cost. From the time of its establishment, it is trying to fulfil the requirements of higher education in the predominantly minority inhabited locality of Metiaburz - Santoshpur - Maheshtala area. It has faced various challenges and difficulties in the last ten years, but instead of suppressing its zeal, they have acted as catalysts for its determination to move ahead.
